Imagine your intimate outdoor wedding ceremony surrounded by the natural beauty of our wooded amphitheater. Or if you prefer an intimate indoor setting, we’re delighted to offer our chapel for your special ceremony. Our campus offers both venues surrounded by 20 acres of mostly wooded land. Our property is a certified wildlife refuge and we take great pride in protecting and preserving the natural beauty that we have been blessed with.
The campus includes our main sanctuary, the Sacred Steps Labyrinth, and the Cresent Woods Amphitheater. All are available for you to enjoy on your special day. Our main sanctuary seats up to 120 people and offers a grand piano and an excellent sound system for your use. There is a raised (two-step) platform with room for candles or candelabras, floral arrangements, and the bridal party. Our outdoor amphitheater is built into the hillside surrounded by trees and can seat 65-70 people. It also has electricity available for all your audio needs. The labyrinth, nestled in a wooded area and watched over by our beloved father Oak and mother Maple, can accommodate up to 50-60 people but does not include seating.
Eclectic Elegance has dishes that decorate! We use them to create artistically cohesive designs your guests will love.
Northern Michigan’s only full-service dish rental company. We provide dinner plates, salad plates, stemware, silverware, and more. We deliver, set up, clear (during dinner), and rinse your dishes onsite. We then take them off-site to be washed.
With three different collections, we have something every bride can appreciate. Our Creams Collection is a timeless classic look that’s both formal and beautifully eclectic. Our Art Collection is composed of unique pieces that together are extraordinary. Our Floral collection is like a walk through the garden with its colorful and eclectic flower patterns.

The Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park is located on the grounds of the former Traverse City State Hospital. The freshly renovated Visitor Center is a bright and beautiful building that was once the farm Granary, built around 1886. The open air Pavilion once served as the farm’s crop storage building, with the root cellar below that was finished around 1891. The original stone walls and tunnel (appropriately nicknamed the Tunnel of Love!) connected the farm’s root cellar to the Granary’s lower level.
Environmental sustainability is a guiding principle of The Botanic Garden and some of the many ‘green’ components of the renovation include energy saving lighting, heating & cooling and water conservation systems, a V-shaped roof that collects and stores rainwater for garden irrigation, recycled materials including wood paneling from Manistee’s Vogue Theater and even original cast iron cow water buckets from the adjoining barn that now serve as lighting fixtures!
The original Horse Barn foundation has been converted into the Walled Garden and has served as a beautiful blooming backdrop for wedding ceremonies.
The Visitor Center is outfitted with modern technology like WiFi, a sound bar with Bluetooth (folks often use their smartphones with their own music playlists wirelessly!), a wall-mounted monitor with HDMI cables, plus presentation tools like flip charts and white boards. The Pavilion features twinkly string lighting and electrical outlets and electricity is also available in the Walled Garden.
The Visitor Center meeting room, the open-air Pavilion, the Walled Garden and the large tent lawn adjoining the Visitor Center are available for weddings, bridal and baby showers, memorial and celebration of life services, family reunions, business retreats and meetings, social and networking events, and holiday parties and much more. A classical prodigy on the violin, multi-instrumentalist Karine Pierson has over twenty-five years of experience planning and playing at the weddings of thousands of happy couples. An Interlochen and University of Michigan-trained artist, Karine has spent most of her career running a successful, full-time wedding band and entertainment company. When Karine is not planning or playing at weddings, she plays in her original band The Lofteez. Karine is also a music teacher and voice coach at Vokey Music in Traverse City. In the spring of 2023 Karine plans to debut a new wedding band that will be available for bookings, The Decibelz, a five-piece female-fronted band featuring the electric violin. Karine lives in Traverse City with her wife Tiffany, daughter Aria and dog Butterz.
